to promote safe in-store shopping practices during the pandemic, paypal and venmo initiated the #thankqrc campaign.
featuring, neil patrick harris, the campaign urged consumers to utilize touch-free qr codes for checkouts at cvs stores across the country.
as part of the campaign, a virtual launch was conducted and consumers were invited to share their safe shopping experiences.
selected participants were rewarded with funds from neil patrick harris’s paypal and venmo alias accounts.
the campaign led to a significant increase in transactions and new user adoption of paypal and venmo qr codes.
